                                 ## MATERIALS ##

A material can be one or more types of matter. Materials have different properties and different uses,They can be NATURAL  or MANUFACTURED.

  1. Natural materials.
  • Natural materials come directly from nature. They can come from animals, plants or minerals.

 

2.-Manufactured materials

  • Manufactured materials are natural materials which go through a chemical transformation.

 

3.- Properties of Materials.

  • All materials have their own characteristics, called properties. Not all materials have the same properties. For example, one can be a liquid, one can be a gas, one can be a solid.
  • The properties of a material also determine what it is used for.
  • Some other properties are: COLOUR, HARDNESS, RESISTANCE, ELASTICITY, THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY, SOLUBILITY.

 

 

 

                                           ACTIVITIES Natural Science.

1.- Vocabulary.

2.– Is glass a natural or manufactured material?  Why?

3.- Classify the following materials in your notebook under natural or manufactured.

4.-Choose some different object from around house (three object).

Test these four properties on each object:  hardness, resistance, elasticity and solubility.

5.- Take a photo of each object.
